First Day of Thoughts

So excited with my new hobby... do you call it that? I was staring at this screen wondering what to call it. Worked today at the Dorothy Chander Pavilion, and helped run a Cheese and Antipasti buffet for 250 even though the guest count was 500. It's what the client ordered. It's a good thing that people didn't come out, it was raining. We had plenty of food. It's funny before I started working in food, I would have no idea what things were like many of our guests today. I could guess what everything was without looking at it, and it would never occur to me that they were anything else than what they were. We had Pita chips which we made in our own kitchen. Olives, Hummus, Grilled Bell Peppers, Grilled Eggplant, Olive Tapanade (don't know if I spelled that right) and various other things, one thing I noticed that we did different today was Mozzarella seasoned with Pesto (yum). It looked very good, and it's funny we garnished the cheese with a little bit of Grapes, which is what disappeared right away. So as usual one of my pet peeves against guests happened again, after we as servers run around, and I do mean run around ragged looking for serving utensils and tongs to serve items, the guests come up and pick up the food with their fingers. In this day and age you would figure people would be responsible enough to no pick up food with their fingers especially when they have to move the tongs out of their way to do it. It kills me. Oh well what are you going to do. Catch the H1N1 then call it a day. I feel that people in the Food industry are less likely to catch things because of how much we are regularly exposed to those lovely bugs. The one MAJOR upside was that the guests were very pleasant. It helps pass the time when people are nice and have a sense of humor.

Tomorrow is a big day of Movie watching for me, right now I am as mentioned before I am watching Julie & Julia, which is great by the way. Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci my God, they are amazing in their roles. More about Movies tomorrow in the meantime you can look over the food that was served today.
